On the occasion of his arrival on the bench of Imperial (Real Murcia's second team), Carlos Cuéllar was interviewed by the newspaper 'La Verdad', a leading newspaper in the region.
"It is very difficult to be fair, but I would always like to be sincere and close," said the Madrid-born player in reference to the trajectory he hopes to have as a coach. He is facing his first experience as head coach at the heart of a historic club, and against which he played one of his most special moments as a footballer. "I made my debut in the first division with Osasuna in a match against Real Murcia," he recalled.
During the interview, which can be read on paper and in the digital edition, Cuéllar reviewed the stages he went through as a professional footballer, from the entry into the elite with Osasuna to his retirement in Israel. In between, his historic season with Rangers or the unforgettable seasons in the Premier League.
In the English championship he faced the biggest challenges for a defender at the time (Drogba, Luis Suárez, Henry, Van Persie, Fernando Torres...) and also the monitoring for a possible call-up to the Spanish national team. A dream that in the end could not be fulfilled (he coincided with Piqué, Puyol, Ramos, Marchena...). There were many more dreams that he was able to realise.
