The first provincial derby of the season in Segunda RFEF took place at the Antonio Solana, where Intercity and Ilicitano were both searching for their first win after opening the campaign with a draw apiece. It took less than thirty seconds for Carlos Cuéllar’s reserve side to put Intercity under pressure: the first ball into the box and Dídac made it 0-1, a real cold shower for Javi Moreno’s men.
Intercity were forced to chase the game from the outset against an Elche reserve team that stuck to their plan of breaking forward with energy from their own half, keeping things tight at the back and allowing Owen’s goal to go largely untroubled. Intercity tried to fix the situation before the break, and although Sito found the net in stoppage time, the goal was ruled out by the referee.
In the second half, Cristian Herrera wasted no time showing Intercity’s intent to restore parity. Their persistence paid off when Pochito, just ten minutes after coming on, unleashed a strike that flew into Owen’s top corner to bring the match level again. The draw did little to change the fortunes of either side after their opening-day stalemates, but in the closing stages, the point no longer felt so disappointing. In the end, the derby finished all square.
