Former Aston Villa player Andy Blair has showered the team with praise after the recent victory over Wolves.
The two sides clashed in a heated encounter at Molineux, which saw the home side come from behind to level the score as Matt Jarvis cancelled out Stewart Downing’s opener. But a late goal from striker Emile Heskey settled the tie as Gerard Houllier’s charges walked away with three points.
"The whole spine of the team was magnificent," Blair told the club's official website.. "You have Carlos [Cuellar] at centre-half, Nigel [Reo-Coker] in central midfield and then Ashley [Young] holding the ball up. I thought they were absolutely brilliant.
"I thought Carlos was immense. He seemed to get on the end of everything - he got blocks in, tackles in and held the back four firm. He was absolutely brilliant.
