CARLOS Cuellar has dedicated his claret and blue comeback to his Twitter fans after saluting his cyber supporters for showing him “love”.
Cuellar was on the brink of leaving Villa at the start of the season but has returned to become Alex McLeish’s most consistent defender.
And the Spaniard is playing for his future after his representatives opened negotiations about extending his contract which expires this summer.
The 30-year-old centre-half is enjoying his football again and has thanked his 145,000-strong legion of Twitter followers for helping him shine.
Cuellar admits he owes his online fans a debt of gratitude for keeping him strong during his injury lay-off and regular spells on the sidelines.
He spent the first months of the season recovering from knee surgery after a return to former club Rangers broke down over personal terms.
“It’s a very good thing because even when I was injured and I was doing my recovery people would send me messages and that would give me confidence,” he said.
“They would say ‘we like you’, ‘we want you to stay’ ‘you are the favourite player for us’ and that would help my recovery.
“That gives you strength to work even harder.
