Carlos Cuellar will miss the next three games of his team for a ligament injury, the club said Thursday.
Sunderland's Spanish defender was forced off injured at halftime of the game between Sunderland last Saturday against Liverpool (1-1) and has since been treated.
However, coach Martin O'Neill confirmed Thursday that the former player of Rangers and Aston Villa will not play this weekend against West Ham and probably neither will against Milton Keynes Dons in the League Cup, nor against Wigan next week.
"Carlos Cuellar has a ligament problem and is very, very doubtful, not only for this game, but perhaps for the next two games," said O'Neill
