Cuéllar: “My dream is to return to Aston Villa as manager”

Carlos Cuéllar’s bond with Aston Villa remains as strong as ever. The former Spanish footballer, who left a lasting mark during his time as a player at Villa Park, has admitted in an interview with The Holte Roar that one of his biggest dreams would be to return to the English club one day — this time from the dugout.

Cuéllar reflected on his time in Birmingham, his memories of Aston Villa and his ambitions as a coach. Asked about the possibility of returning to the club as manager, the Spaniard was clear: “It would be my dream.”

His words reflect Carlos’ ambition in this new professional chapter. After a long playing career with clubs including Rangers, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Norwich and Almería, Cuéllar has taken a different path, now focused on coaching and helping young players develop.

Currently in charge of Elche Ilicitano, the coach continues to take steps forward in his development. His work with the Franjiverde reserve team allows him to shape his own ideas, compete in a demanding division and continue gaining valuable experience on the touchline.

Aston Villa remains a special club for Cuéllar. It was there that he competed in the Premier League and connected with supporters who still remember his commitment, character and professionalism. Years later, that bond is still alive — and has become a future ambition.

Carlos Cuéllar knows that his journey as a coach is only just beginning, but he is also clear about where he wants it to lead: to keep growing, establish himself in management and, one day, return to Villa Park to experience a new chapter at the club that played such an important role in his career.
