Aston Villa lost against Manchester City in fifth round tie (3-0). Yaya Toure gave the City the lead when he smashed in from close range after Kolarov's corner fell into his path. Mario Balotelli doubled the lead when he finished beautifully high into the Villa goal after a Toure's pass.

City scored the goals but periods of ball possession were shared in the second half. But David Silva ending any hopes of a Villa comeback with a crisp drive in the 70th minute.
