Carlos Cuellar can't wait. The player relishing first game at SoL defending the shirt of Sunderland against Liverpool. The defender wants Sunderland to extend Liverpool’s miserable start to the season this weekend by building on their impressive early form.
The Black Cats are unbeaten this season after cruising past Morecambe in the Capital One Cup and producing two excellent away performances to restrict Arsenal and Swansea to draws. Now Cuellar wants to see Sunderland record their first league win of the season achieved at the expense of Liverpool, and play his part in securing it.
Sunderland has yet to break through this season. They are ahead of Liverpool in the standings but only by a point. Manager Martin O'Neill has proven able to keep his squad in the game but has also failed to earn a victory.
In their defence they have new recruit Carlos Cuellar from Aston Villa who makes for a splendid addition to the Sunderland outfit, along with ex-Manchester United defender John O’Shea. They managed to hold Arsenal FC to a draw on opening day, so they will be tough to break down as well.
Sunderland have two big threats on the attacking front; in Sebastian Larsson and Steven Fletcher they have two potent attacking threats up front. Fletcher is their record signing and has already opened his account for the Black Cats, scoring twice on his club debut against Rodgers’ ex-club Swansea City.
In the middle you have James McClean for Sunderland, and he will also be a threat. Very dynamic and crafty as well, he will pose a big threat from the midfield. He has been earning a lot of rave reviews for his performances for Sunderland, so he will definitely be one to watch out for in this tie.
