Sunderland recovered from 2-0 down to beat Milton Keynes Dons (4-2) and progress into the Capital One Cup third round. Altidore, Johnson and Wickham scored for the Black Cats.
The visitors took a shock seventh minute lead after Patrick Bamford drilled a left-footed effort past Vito Mannone. In the 55th minute, McLeod's deft chip doubled the lead for the League One side.
But four goals in the last 15 minutes condemned Karl Robinson's team to a League Cup exit at the hands of the Black Cats for the second year in succession. In the 77th minute, Jozy Altidore's first goal for Sunderland began a stunning fightback, and Wickham turned from provider to scorer in the 86th minute.
A Wickham's shot that deflected off Dons defender Reeves was the third Black Cats goal, and Johnson sealed Sunderland’s progress deep into injury-time with a fine solo run. Carlos Cuéllar didn´t play.
