Nine years have already passed, but the memory remains intact. Not for less. On April 5, 2007, Osasuna won Bayer Leverkusen 0-3 in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Carlos Cuéllar, one of the leaders of that team coached by Ziganda, started the game and also scored a goal. In the first minute of play, a header from the centre-back, after a corner kick, found the German goal. The 0-1 allowed the Navarran team take control of a match sentenced by David López and Webó in the second half.
In the second leg, Osasuna won again, this time 1-0. So 'los rojillos' sealed the pass, for the first time in its history, to the semifinals of the UEFA; a competition in which Carlos would be protagonist again the following year. In the 2007-08 season, Cuéllar played the final, this time with the Glasgow Rangers outfit .
