Carlos starts an adventure in Israel

Cuéllar signs for Maccabi Petah Tikva. After one season at Almería and a long professional career in which he has played for Osasuna, Rangers, Aston Villa or Sunderland amongst other teams, the Madrid born centre back will start a new experience in a very different country. The defender has penned a one year contract.

"I'm really looking forward to live this new experience", says Carlos. Maccabi Petah Tikva, founded in 1912 by a young group of Jews that studied at Constantinople, plays at the HaMoshava Stadium, a new football ground inaugurated in December 2011 that has a seating capacity of 11.500 and was one of the Stadiums that hosted the 2013 U-21 Eurocup. Based in Petah Tikva, a town of 200,000 habitants, the club is the second oldest team in Israel, the first is Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Last season, Maccabi Petah Tikva ended the Israeli Premier League in eighth position. Throughout its history has twice won the State Cup, the Toto Cup four times (the last one, last season) and the Second Israeli Division, two Artzit Toto Cup and once the Haaretz Tournament. Besides, the team was the runners-up on three occasions in the League and qualified for two consecutive editions of the Europa League (2004-05 and 2005-06).

From now on, this team counts with the qualities and experience of Carlos to grow within the Israeli football. In the physical aspect, the adaptation will not be a problem. Cuéllar has since early July working very hard.
