Carlos Cuéllar will continue in Israel, although he will do so in a different team. The Madrid born defender has penned a year contract with Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona FC. His new club is based in the northern city of Kiryat Shmona, bordering the Lebanese border. The signing of Carlos is part of a very ambitious project, which aims to fight for titles with the best teams of Israel.
Cuéllar faces this challenge with the maximum motivation: "I start a new stage that makes me feel very excited. The club's bet is very interesting and I feel very happy to be part of this new project. Now we are going to take a break to get back very strong in preseason. I am very happy to continue in this country and in this League". After a very positive experience at the Maccabi Petah Tikva, with which he has completed a great season, Carlos will continue to compete in a country he has adapted to perfection.
The Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona was founded in 2000 and in its list of winners are the most outstanding titles, one League (2011-12) and one State Cup of Israel (2013-14). The team has participated in several editions of the Europa League and was so close to qualify for the group stage of the 2012-13 Champions. Only two seasons ago it finished the league in second position.
