Wigan vs Aston Villa was the first to be called off. The DW Stadium and surroundings areas suffered freak weather conditions. Despite the club's efforts by bringing in snow ploughs and gritters, the snow has made the surronding area extremely hazardous for supporters travelling to the game.
Public transport wasn't running and there were motoway closures, sais Wigan official site.
All arrivals and most departures were cancelled in a lot of England's airports. So, Aston Villa had to return by bus.
