Sensational draw at Stamford Bridge

Aston Villa earned a sensational draw at Stamford Bridge (3-3) in the last minute. The villains showed great effort and a really good performance.

Frank Lampard opened the scoring, but Villa applied pressure on Chelsea ’s back-line, and Essien took down Nigel Reo-Coker in his haste to clear the ball. Ashley Young thumped the penalty into the roof of the net.

The second half was less than two minutes old when Villa took the lead through Heskey, who rose above Bruma, making his league debut, before planting his firm header past Cech.

From then on, Chelsea applied pressure in a bid to find their way back into the game.

The equaliser came on 84 minutes when Drogba scored (2-2). Just a minute before full time, Terry looked to have won the game for Chelsea after converting a ball that fell into his path after Drogba’s headed effort was well-saved by Friedel. Stamford Bridge erupted around him.

But the celebrations were silenced a minute into injury time when Mark Albrighton picked out an unmarked Ciaran Clark with an intelligent pass.

Brad Friedel was the Man of the Match for making three excellent saves and Carlos Cuéllar, who moved to the right side of the back, played again all the match at good level. "I would call this draw, half a victory", said Houllier.
