Aston Villa moved out of the relegation zone thanks to a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City in an entertaining Midlands derby (1-1).
Villa dominated the opening phase and final part of the game and hit the woodwork on three occasions, but Birmingham also also had good chances.
It was hosts Birmingham who drew first blood with Roger Johnson netting his first goal in front of his home fans four minutes into the second half.
But Villa responded and James Collins rescued a point for the Midlanders on 73 minutes to lift them into 17th spot on goal difference. Carlos Cuéllar was on the bench.
Now villains have 22 points from the same number of games, are above 18th-placed Wigan on goals scored.
