Carlos Cuéllar’s UD Almería started the season with a win in this new challenge of getting to First Division. Sergi’s men won 3-2 against Leganés. Carlos, who came in on the 84’ for Quique, debuted with the Andalusian team in an official competition.
Cuéllar started the match on the bench. The defender from Madrid is liked by the coach Sergi, but this time Fran Vélez and Morcillo were the starting centre-backs. The Catalan coach used the former Norwich player during the last minutes in order to stop the rival’s pressure, as they became strong during the last period of a match in which Almería dominated since the beginning. Carlos did his duty, although a goal from Leganés on the last minute gave their sting back.
Almería’s next match will be next Saturday, day in which they’ll have to face Zaragoza at La Romareda. A great duel between two clear aspirants to promotion.
