Maccabi Petah Tikva dented his hopes to continue in the Israel State Cup as they lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first leg of the quarter finals (0-1). Carlos team played well and did not concede many goal opportunities, but the great goal from Tal Ben Haim in the 76 minute decided the tie. Ben Haim also missed a penalty in the last minutes of the game, a circumstance that give some options to the Petah Tikva team for the second leg.
Carlos started in the centre of the defense and disputed the full 90 minutes. Recovered from his minor problems, is back as a regular for Kobi Refua in the team. The defeat against Maccabi Tel Aviv ends an amazing run of 12 games unbeaten. Nevertheless, the attitude give some confidence for the second leg (1st March).
Now it is time to focus on the league, where, curiously, their next game ahead will be against Maccabi Tel Aviv the next Monday (13 of February). The team coached by Jordi Cruyff is second just two points ahead from Cuéllar and his teammates.
