Beitar Jerusalem started the Europa League 2018/19 with a 0-0 draw against Chikhura Sachkhere from Georgia. It was the first leg of the first qualifying round of the continental tournament. Carlos Cuéllar returned to European Championships after 10 years (his last participation was in the 2008/09 season with Aston Villa).

Cuéllar, a starter in the middle of the defence, made his official debut with Beitar, his 11th club throughout his wide career. The centreback from Madrid seems he will be very important for his coach, Guy Luzon. On the 90', Carlos came out for Seroshtan.
During the match played at the Mikheil Meskhi of Tbilisi, Beitar went from less to more and had chances to score on the second half. On July 19 at the Teddy Stadium of Jerusalem, Cuéllar's team will try to find a win that will take them to the second round of the competition.
